Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold has been arrested due to his connection to a kidnapping and robbery incident that occurred in February 2026, per Tampa Police. Arnold has been charged with four counts of kidnapping and four counts of armed robbery related to this incident, which could lead to an extremely long prison sentence if he is convicted.

Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press noted that the charges could lead to a maximum sentence of life in prison if he is convicted and punished as harshly as possible. The Largo Police Department intends to file a pre-trial motion to keep Arnold in jail until the trial, saying that the former Lions first-round pick is a "danger to the community."

Six other individuals have been arrested between February 4 and March 21 in connection with these alleged kidnappings and armed robberies. Three victims, listed as adult males in their late teens, "had visible injuries from being battered, held at gunpoint, and pistol-whipped before their personal property was stolen." Investigators believe, per Tampa Police, that Arnold was the "primary conspirator."

On February 1, multiple items of Arnold's property were reportedly stolen from an Airbnb in Largo he owned. Arnold thought two of the three victims were responsible for this, but investigators concluded they were not.

On February 4, Arnold reportedly directed two of the six other individuals arrested to lure the victims to the apartment. The victims were reportedly held at gunpoint and hit.

The Lions also released a statement acknowledging “the legal situation regarding Terrion Arnold.” “We will not comment at this time out of respect for the ongoing legal process,” the statement read.

Arnold's camp, represented by Denise White of EAG Sports Management, released a statement in which they said Arnold "categorically denies" what he is being accused of. White said the government is "relying on testimony from multiple convicted felons" and said that Arnold believes the judicial process will eventually lead to his "ultimate vindication in this matter."

Arnold, who was selected in the first round (No. 24 overall) in the 2024 NFL Draft, is coming off a down year in 2025 in which he was limited to just eight games with an injury. Arnold recorded his first career interception in 2025, and he figures to be a huge part of what the new-look Lions secondary wants to accomplish in this upcoming season. This situation could throw all of that into dispute.
