Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown can get under the skin of some defenders.
He's not shy about sharing his wins, whether it be on first downs (see above image) or after touchdowns. You'd be hard pressed to find a clip of St. Brown celebrating anything positive on the field without bordering on a taunting flag. Still, he has respect from the league's top defenders because he's simply good enough to be able to celebrate so bombastically.
One of those defenders is Eagles cornerback Cooper DeJean, who has quickly become one of the league's best defenders in the secondary. He was recently asked by NBC Sports who he thinks is "that good" at wide receiver, and he said St. Brown fits the bill.
“Amon-Ra, obviously, I knew he was good, but how strong he is running routes and at the catch point definitely surprised me a little bit. I think I’m a strong guy, but going against him—the way he runs his routes and how physical he is—him and Puka (Nacua).”
St. Brown earns major praise from top Eagles defender
St. Brown did not have a great showing against Philadelphia this season, only posting 42 receiving yards on two receptions the entirety of their Week 11 clash.
Over his career, in fact, he has struggled to get going against the Eagles. That's what makes the praise even better from DeJean here. Despite St. Brown getting shut down pretty regularly by the Eagles' defense over the last few years, it's obvious that it's always a battle of strength and skill in the secondary.
Earning a comparison to someone like Puka Nacua considering their size difference really speaks to how tough St. Brown is as an assignment.

St. Brown has already pieced together a pretty historic career with the Lions, already fourth all-time in receiving yards through five seasons with Detroit. He's on pace to eclipse Lions legend Calvin Johnson for most receiving yards by a Lions player all-time by the end of his career with the team, assuming he sticks around for the entirety of it.
Knowing that Lions players command this level of respect on the field from their peers is huge, but it's nothing surprising to fans who have been watching him develop over the years alongside Jared Goff, Jameson Williams, and the rest of the Lions' offense.
