The Jets will get the first crack at making an impression on Aaron Glenn

The two in-person interviews Aaron Glenn now has this week aren't surprising, but the order may matter.

The end of the Detroit Lions' season means their coaches can be interviewed and potentially hired for jobs elsewhere. Of course the two most prominent people on that front are offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, and the in-person interview schedules for each this week are filling up.

For Glenn, two jobs have long been seen as the favorites to land him, and it stands to come down to which he prefers. He has interest from others, but he's not seen as much of a prominent candidate for those jobs.

On that front, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo were first to report Glenn will have an in-person interview with the New York Jets. Rapoport added Glenn will visit the New Orleans Saints after that.

SI.com's Albert Breer has confirmed Glenn's schedule, with the Jets on Tuesday and the Saints on Wednesday. Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports also reported that interview itinerary, with the obvious caveat that if Glenn doesn't strike a deal with the Jets he'll go on to talk to the Saints.

Jets are at the front of the line to hire Aaron Glenn

At two different points over the last six weeks or so, ESPN Jets' beat writer Rich Cimini twice talked prominently on his podcast about Glenn and the Jets' head coaching job. Once was in broader sense that Glenn would be interested, and the other was in reference to a conversation a couple years ago where Glenn called the Jets a "dream job."

The Jets have had wide-ranging searches for new football leadership, and that is putting it mildly. But Glenn has always seemed like their top head coach candidate, and they are first in line to have an in-person interview with him now that he's able to do so. That is meaningful, and the Saints may never get a chance to have a second interview if things go well at Florham Park on Tuesday.
