Many positives came out of the Detroit Lions' 38-30 win over the Baltimore Ravens on Monday night. The performance, however, of cornerback Terrion Arnold did cause concern for Lions fans.

The Lions' 2024 first-round pick showed flashes of his potential in his rookie season. His performance through three games this season and on Monday night has Lions fans questioning his ability to be a reliable defender in Detroit's secondary in his second year.

Terrion Arnold's struggles against the Ravens

In the win against the Ravens, Arnold collected three total tackles and got beaten multiple times by Baltimore's wide receivers. As the Lions prepare for their week 4 matchup against another AFC North team, the Cleveland Browns, Detroit may change Arnold's snap counts.

During an interview on 97.1 the Ticket's "Costa & Jansen with Heather" radio show on Wednesday morning, Lions coach Dan Campbell spoke about his confidence in Arnold but mentioned the possibility of cutting his playing time for cornerback Amik Robertson.

"He's a young player and he's working at it and he's going to get better. He's going to get better; it's going to take a little bit of time here. We're going to work through a few of these things, but look, every young player they have these ebbs and flows of their career or of a second year, things of that nature. He's going to be alright, man, we're just going to keep working through it. And, look, we'll probably use Amik on some stuff, too. Amik's a good player. So we're going to mix it up a little bit."

Robertson's experience as a cornerback could help Arnold grow

Given Robertson's experience in the NFL compared to Arnold's, it wouldn't be a bad move if he received more defensive snaps than the second-year cornerback moving forward. Robertson is a six-year veteran in the NFL, having played four seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders before coming to the Lions in 2024.

Last season with the Lions, Robertson collected 50 total tackles and three forced fumbles, which were similar to Arnold's stat line in 2024. Robertson is a great player that Arnold can continue to learn from as a young cornerback, as his talent continues to develop in his second season.
