The Detroit Lions have hype and positive expectations for the first time in a very long time. Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown is of course one of the big keys to the team reaching those expectations, as one of the best players on the team and among the best at his position in the league.

St. Brown leads his 2021 draft peers in receptions over the last two years, more than Ja'Marr Chase and Jaylen Waddle. Of course we know he was the 17th wide receiver off the board in that draft, and how he knows the names and accomplishments (of lack thereof in many cases) of each,

St. Brown has quickly become a star, and more recognizable wherever he goes.

St. Brown recently spoke to Gilbert Manzano of Sports Illustrated, and he talked about the hype surrounding this year's Lions team from the fans he encounters.

Here's what St. Brown had to say about Lions fans and the hype around the team, capped by what is surely a shared sentiment for some.

"My rookie year, we went 3-13-1, [Lions fans] were still there for us,” St. Brown says. “And now the hype is crazy. When I go back for OTAs and whatnot, you go to the grocery store, you go to the restaurant, whatever you’re doing that day. If a fan sees you, they’re super excited.

“They have big expectations, but I feel like no matter what, they’re always going to be there for us. That’s something, as a player, I really appreciate, because there’s definitely those bandwagon fans that you see with the big teams that win a lot."

St. Brown is looking to add a downfield element to his game this season, a call that was heeded by offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and backed up by wide receivers coach Antwaan Randle El. He will remain driven by that draft day fall, as he is and will remain a favorite player for Lions fans.
