4. EDGE Romeo Okwara

Okwara played a team-high 44 defensive snaps against the Giants in the preseason opener, with six quarterback pressures and one sack. He may play a lot again against the Jaguars, with key players resting, but on Thursday head coach Dan Campbell was fairly non-committal about it.

"Romeo is doing some really good things and it feels like he’s very much back to what he was and so he’s somebody we’ll talk about this week, how much does he play, all those things we’ll talk more about tonight.""

With the Lions' bounty of edge rusher depth, it's not aggressive to suggest they are tentatively showcasing the elder Okwara for a possible trade. If he has another nice game on Saturday, calls to see about his availability may come whether general manager Brad Holmes wants them or not.

3. EDGE Julian Okwara

Campbell called out Okwara before the preseason opener, and he answered the bell with three sacks against the Giants. Now the key, as Campbell openly called for consistency from him, is keeping that momentum going as he tries to take himself all the way off the roster bubble. Some fans want to put him on the 53-man roster after last week, but he's got more work to do.

Okwara is in line to play a lot on Saturday, perhaps from beginning all the way to end of the game. He needs another good showing, to prove the preseason opener wasn't a fluke. Maybe the younger Okwara becomes a trade candidate himself with another nice outing.
