Lions fans pile on Ben Johnson after his Bears collapse in ugly loss

Better luck next time.... but not really.

Week 2 marked Ben Johnson's return to Detroit after the former Lions offensive coordinator bolted for Chicago in the offseason to coach the Bears. As one might expect, Lions fans made sure that Johnson heard their displeasure with his departure, booing their former offensive coordinator as he took the field before the game.

Well, after the Lions absolutely throttled the Bears by scoring over 50 points and limiting them to just 14 points until late in the game, fans didn't hold back with continuing to troll Johnson. Those in attendance for the Lions blowout win at Ford Field started a "F*** Ben Johnson" chant that was pretty easy to hear on the broadcast.

Lions fans vocal about their disdain for Ben Johnson

I mean, what did everyone expect? Johnson left the Lions in the offseason and that isn't necessarily what fans are upset about. They're more irritated by the fact that, of all of the teams with head coaching jobs available this offseason, he had to pick the one in the same division as Detroit.

If Johnson was returning as the head coach of a team like the Jaguars or an AFC team (or heck, even an NFC team not in the same division as the Lions), this would be a much different welcoming for him. But that's not the timeline we live in. Johnson chose to take the head coach position in Chicago and now he has to suffer the consequences of that.

Fortunately, the Lions got into the win column for the first time this season and are 1-1 after a rough Week 1 outing. To make matters even funnier, Johnson and the Bears are 0-2 after being so hyped up in the offseason.

These two teams will meet again in the final week of the regular season and hopefully that ends up being a meaningless game for the Lions due to locking up the top seed. But if not, then hopefully the Lions can once again curb-stomp Johnson and his new team.
