Injuries

This goes along with the previous point, as a mitigating circumstance.

Fifteen players are listed on this week’s report, which includes Matthew Stafford (who is out for this week), and more than a half dozen other starters. Kerryon Johnson, the starting running back, is already inactive due to an earlier knee injury.

With so many players missing time it is difficult to gauge how many wins that they might have had if they were healthier.

Stafford, in particular, was playing at a very high level and might’ve had close to his best year as a pro if he remained in the lineup.

Likewise, the run game took a hit when Johnson went down. It is often close to impossible to see no drop-off from backups and the Lions have utilized many.

Again, this is all supposition about what we would do if we had the ability to make this choice for Mrs. Ford.
