The Detroit Lions are likely not interested in giving a soon-to-be 29-year old Ziggy Ansah a long term deal. Especially considering his inconsistent play and injury history in recent years.

Therefore, I believe the Lions will be more than happy to scoop up Boston College’s Harold Landry with their top pick, 20th overall.

Landry might be the best pass rusher in this entire draft class. He has the ability to play both in a 4-3, with his hand on the ground, and standing up in the 3-4.

Landry would likely be a much higher selection if not for an ankle injury he suffered last season. In 2016, he posted an incredible 50 total tackles, 22.0 tackles for a loss and 16.5 sacks.

The Lions get a steal here while also securing a future replacement for Ansah in 2019 and beyond.

Lastly, let’s not forget that new Lions’ defensive coordinator Paul Pasqualoni was Landry’s defensive line coach at Boston College. You think he’ll be pounding the table for this kid in the first round?
