You know the Detroit Lions are going to grab a running back high in this draft. And after using their first round selection on a rare pass rusher, they’ll look to grab their workhorse back in the second by selecting Georgia running back Nick Chubb.

The Lions signed LeGarrette Blount earlier this offseason to be their full-time starter in 2018. But Blount is on a one-year deal in Detroit. The 31-year old will serve as a terrific bridge player for Chubb, allowing the rookie runner to be an understudy to the three-time Super Bowl champion.

Chubb has the all the tools to be a top-notch workhorse back for the Lions. Last season, the former Bulldog rushed for 1,345 yards and 15 touchdowns averaging 6.0 yards per carry.

There are questions to be answered about Chubb’s durability and performance following a devastating knee injury he suffered in 2015. But in the end, I believe the risks are worth the potential high rewards here.
