DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Houston Texans

Let me start by saying this — DeAndre Hopkins is an extremely talented, young wide receiver. He really is. The problem with Hopkins however lies more in the situation around him than with his own personal talent.

The Houston Texans quarterback situation with Brian Hoyer and Ryan Mallet should be called suspect at best, and to make matters worse starting running back and face of the offense, Arian Foster, will now miss substantial time with a groin injury. This will leave defenses zeroing in on Hopkins come game day, which may ultimately lead to a less than stellar season for the former Clemson Tiger.

While Hopkins currently resides within the top 15 of my fantasy football wide receiver power rankings, I would be very hesitant to draft him if given the opportunity. With the likelihood of a lot of sub par weeks ahead, I just can’t see the value in drafting him inside the top 25-30 picks.
