Todd Gurley, RB, St. Louis Rams

A lot like the aforementioned Ameer Abdullah, St. Louis Rams running back Todd Gurley is also very hyped entering the 2015 season. Gurley was an absolute stud at the University of Georgia where he played his collegiate ball, and was rumored heavily to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft prior to tearing his ACL.

Gurley would eventually fall to No. 10 in the first round, where the Rams pulled the trigger despite some concerns about his injury and timetable for a return. It was speculated shortly after the NFL draft, that Gurley could start the regular season on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list, which would eliminate any chance of him playing in the first half of the season. This prognosis would eventually prove wrong, and it is now known that the former Bulldog will NOT be on the PUP come September.

That does not however mean that he’ll necessarily be ready for week one either.

As much as St. Louis wants to get Gurley on the filed and into the starting line-up, expect them to be somewhat patient and cautious with this approach. Make no mistake about it, Gurley is still recovering and a healthy and ready Tre Mason is more than capable of RB1 duties to start the year.
