Michael Vick Is Reportedly Close to Signing With An NFL Team

AUTHOR: Kevin Ferguson | IN: Lions | COMMENTS: None Yet

It’s a curious and complicated situation.
Pro Football players do bad things off the field all the time. ALL the time. *ALL* *THE* *TIME*
Donte Stallworth is currently in jail for killing a guy while drunk driving (I’m not even going to get into that here, I am however trying to put something informative and entertaining about that… more on that later). His sentence was mind blowing and it says a lot about where we draw the line as Vick has gotten out after 23 months in a federal prison and Stallworth will be out in a week or two.
Mess with dogs [...]

As Training Camp Approaches, Is There a Matt Stafford / Dante Culpepper QB Controversy In Detroit?

AUTHOR: Kevin Ferguson | IN: Lions | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

It’s pretty natural when you have to legitimate contenders on the roster that fans will speculate and chirp about which Detroit Lions QB should be taking the snaps.
There are 2 philosophies involved: Go with the Veteran and let the kid learn on the sidelines (like Kitna/Palmer of a few years ago) or throw the kid in and see what happens (you never know with that… Could end up with a Flacco or a Harrington).
I feel that Culpepper is the natural starter for now. He’s a salty dog of the league now, he knows the in’s and out’s and [...]

Hot Off The Press: Brett Favre To Remain Retired

AUTHOR: Kevin Ferguson | IN: Lions | COMMENTS: None Yet

Just saw on ESPN that Farve told Childress that the physical and mental grind was part of the reason he decided to stay retired. So basically he says he wants to retire, retires, unretires and plays for the jets, re-retires, says he wants to still play but for the vikings, then wastes everyones with testing and workouts only to tell the coach he’s not up to it anymore and stays re-retired even though it’s like re-re-retiring.

AskMen.com’s Top Ten Worst Sports Logos: Did The Lions Avoid The Cut?

AUTHOR: Kevin Ferguson | IN: Lions | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

AskMen.com Top 10 Worst Sports Logos
Bubbles managed to avoid the list despite the recent changes.

I actually liked Bubbles the way he was. The one thing I feel Millen actually did right was add some notes of black to the Detroit Lions Merchandise line. I have some pretty sweet RBK gear that has heavy notes of black to it… The honalulu blue really pops with the back in my humble opinion.
The added white in the logo just doesn’t do too much for me… the added mouth and teeth just don’t convey that message of ferocity like I think they were [...]

We Didn’t Get Jarmon, The Skins Nab Him For a 3rd Rounder

AUTHOR: Kevin Ferguson | IN: Lions | COMMENTS: None Yet

From Detnews.com
Kentucky defensive end Jeremy Jarmon. a player who drew serious interest from the Lions, went to theWashington Redskins in the third round. Shortly after, Redskins vice president of operations said he got a text message from Lions general manager Martin Mayhew saying the Lions, who held the first pick in Thursday’s silent auction-style draft order, were hoping to grab Jarmon with a fourth-round selection.
By using a supplemental draft pick Thursday, the Redskins, who sent four coaches and scouts to Jarmon’s pro-day workout last week, forfeited their third-round selection in the 2010 NFL draft next spring. The Lions probably weren’t prepared go [...]

Kentucky Defensive End Jeremy Jarmon Will Enter The NFL Supplemental Draft

AUTHOR: Kevin Ferguson | IN: Draft, Lions | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

From ESPN.com
Kentucky defensive end Jeremy Jarmon, ruled ineligible by the NCAA for testing positive for a banned substance, confirmed Monday morning that he will enter the NFL’s supplemental draft on July 16.
Jarmon will have a pro day in Lexington on July 9. Kentucky now has no defensive ends on its roster who have made a college tackle.

“I told the NFL teams that have called that I don’t even have a speeding ticket,” Jarmon said. “If they take me they’re not going to have any [...]

Brian Griese Cut from the Bucc’s… Is this a Viable Option for the Lions?

AUTHOR: Kevin Ferguson | IN: Free Agency, Lions | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

This of course hinges on how delusional Griese may or may not be at this point; I, of course, feel that Griese is a perfect candidate for the clipboard. He’s an ideal 3rd slot guy. He never really made a dent professionally, but he does have plenty of field experience and can perhaps serve as a decent mentor to our young bucking bronco, Matt Stafford.
Let’s face it, Drew Stanton is a refugee from another regime right now. He was a Mike Martz project who was hurt and lost his field commander one year in. Only on the lions could a [...]

It’s *Everywhere*, Might as Well Post About the Michael Jackson Funeral

AUTHOR: Kevin Ferguson | IN: Lions | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

Yes this is a blog about football. No there isn’t much football going on aside from pointless speculation. Michael is on everything right now with the memorial winding down.
Can anyone else join me in not knowing how to feel?
I don’t know. I’m lost here.
Back in 1989, the Michael Jackson ‘Bad’ tour was the first concert I’d ever been to (aside from sesame street or the circus, you get the picture) and we were in the upper bowl of the Palace of Auburn Hills. It was a brand new venue at that point; The concert was HUuuuuuuge. Tickets were nearly impossible [...]
