My Detroit Lions Draft Grade :

AUTHOR: Kevin Ferguson | IN: Draft, Free Agency, Lions | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

D-
Well, there you have it.
Our 1st day was terrible, Delmas was the only decent pick. 2nd day, let’s see if any of these guys stick around in the NFL. The Lions have a rich history of 3r-7th round picks being out of professional ball within a year or two.
I like the players… Stafford looks alright, I don’t think he’s a first overall though. Pettigrew is the best tight end on the board, this is a fact, but we are not in the position to be tight end shopping. It’s like having a boat that is full of holes and picking [...]

Terrible Day 1 of the NFL Draft for the Detroit Lions

AUTHOR: Kevin Ferguson | IN: Lions | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

So you get the Quarterback in spite of having no offensive line worth mentioning and in the face of having the worst defense in League history (2nd worst if you want to argue), you decide to shore up the Tight End spot.
That’s great.
And what is wrong with Ray Maulawahgoowahhgah !??! He was in our lap… TWICE!
So we get an undersized kid out of the MAC !? Really?
good gravy, what a terrible first day.
SAME OL’ LIONS!

If You Read This Blog, It’s Not A Surprise: Lions Sign Matt Stafford to a 6 Year Deal

AUTHOR: Kevin Ferguson | IN: Breaking News, Draft, Lions | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Welcome the new face of the franchise, Matt Stafford.
I’m torn.
A Wide Receiver can’t be the face of the franchise, its just not the position for that. Even Jerry Rice wasn’t really the face of the frachises he was on. And Randy Moss was front page news for all the wrong reasons.
But is this “the guy” or the best “guy” at this time and we’re desperate?
No doubt we’re desperate. We’re rolling the dice here too, top of the college heap picks generally never pan out. Whether it’s the franchise or the player, you never you, you can never tell. There are [...]

Wake Forest linebacker Aaron Curry runs a drill at the NFL football scouting combine in Indianapolis.
According to a league source, the Detroit Lions have completed contract terms with Wake Forest linebacker Aaron Curry and the team is now waiting to see if it can reach an agreement with their No. 1 target, Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford.
The source said the Lions will not allow a decision to go beyond Friday and if a deal isn’t done with Stafford by then, [...]

Let’s Get To Know Matt Stafford : 2009 NFL Player Analysis

AUTHOR: Kevin Ferguson | IN: Breaking News, Draft, Lions | COMMENTS: None Yet

As I’ve said over 9000 times, Matt Stafford is most likely to go first overall in the 2009 NFL draft. The Detroit Lions are starting from scratch, coming off of the worst season in NFL history for the 2008 season in what was the cherry and whipped cream atop the worst 8 Year run that an NFL team has ever experienced. That said, you have to start somewhere when the face of your franchise is as blighted as our own Detroit Lions has been and a QB is square one ground zero as pointed out by our new head coach [...]

Arrowhead Addict And… Us.

AUTHOR: Kevin Ferguson | IN: Draft, Lions | COMMENTS: None Yet

They <3 us
All this leads me to believe that the Lions will not pick Stafford. In fact, I think the opposite of a lot of experts; I think the Lions are flirting with Stafford to bring down the price tag of Aaron Curry or one of the two offensive tackles — not vice versa. I flat out don’t believe the reports that Stafford will be the No. 1 overall pick. I’ll believe it when I see it, because it doesn’t make sense. On the other hand, this is the Lions we are talking about — possibly the most nonsensical pro [...]

Epic Mock Draft In Progress

AUTHOR: Kevin Ferguson | IN: Lions | COMMENTS: None Yet

At NFL Mocks on the Fansided.com Network.

A lot of mock drafts make wacky, unrealistic trades; this draft is pretty dead on. The Chiefs made a trade with Buffalo that makes sense and falls in line with what a real NFL trade would constitute…
I chose the Lions taking Matt Stafford at No. 1 overall.
I don’t like the pick, but that’s what I’m absolutely convinced they are going to do.
Who will I take with our second 1st rounder? I’m thinking Defense.
And for our no. 33 pick? I’ve got something sexy up my sleeve. Hint: I will remain consistent with my vision for [...]
