Second Detroit Lions injury report for Week 8 has one player not practicing
The Detroit Lions had their second day of the practice week heading into Week 8 against the Tennessee Titans. The first practice report of a normal week isn't always the most revealing, with rest days sometimes in play, and to that end the Lions listed four players as having not participated in practice due to rest on Wednesday.
Let's take a look at the Lions' practice report from Thursday.
- DL Josh Paschal (illness): DNP
- OT Taylor Decker (rest): Full participant
- OG Graham Glasgow (rest): Full participant
- OG Christian Mahogany (illness): Full participant
- DL Levi Onwuzurike (rest): Full participant
- C Frank Ragnow (rest): Full participant
- OG Kevin Zeitler (groin): Full participant
Second Detroit Lions injury report for Week 8 is as expected
As easily expected, all four of the aforementioned players who got a rest day on Wednesday (Decker, Glasgow, Ragnow, Onwuzurike) graduated to being full participants on Thursday.
Paschal missed his second straight practice with an illness. When head coach Dan Campbell next speaks to the media on Friday, there should be some sort of update on the third-year defensive lineman.
Zeitler missed last Sunday's game with a hip injury, which started out listed as a groin issue at this same point last week. Back-to-back full practices point strongly to his return to action Sunday against the Titans.
Mahogany continues to log full practices as he ramps up after starting the season on the NFI list. His 21-day window to be added to the 53-man roster ends next Tuesday.
Once again, which confirms further that he's fine after avoiding a major knee injury last Sunday, running back David Montgomery was not listed on Thursday's practice report.
In an extra injury note, safety Ifeatu Melifonwu was spotted working off to the side with a trainer during Thursday's practice. The fourth-year safety has yet to play this season after suffering an ankle/Achilles injury during training camp, and simply doing what he was on Thursday is a step in the right direction after he had not practiced since Week 1. He is eligible to come off IR in Week 9, but it's at best unclear if he'll play immediately or the Lions will use more of a 21-day evaluation window.
