The Detroit Lions didn't have to wait long to suffer their first loss of the 2024 season, dropping a Week 2 match-up against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Jared Goff and the Lions offense underwhelmed in the game with Goff throwing two interceptions.

Goff spoke about the first interception he threw and explained that he threw that pass because he saw defensive pass interference on the play. The officials did not make that call, however, so the Buccaneers offense got the ball and added three points to their score early in the game.

While Goff threw for over 300 yards, he threw two picks versus zero touchdowns and couldn't make the magic happen that Lions fans have seen him do so much over the past year. It was a rough day for the Lions offense altogether, as they only managed 16 points in the defeat.

It's a marathon, not a sprint for the Lions but the rest of the division didn't help them out much. As of this writing, the Vikings are the only 2-0 team in the NFC North (we'll see what happens with the Bears when they play on Sunday Night Football) and the Packers recorded their first win of the season as well, giving them and the Lions the same record.

This wasn't a great game for Goff or the Lions offense but the good news is that the good guys still had a chance to win in spite of that. The offensive line was still as good as ever, not allowing a sack on Goff but the Lions quarterback needs to be better against the blitz.

That's when Goff threw his second pick of the day was when the Bucs blitzed him and pressured him into that throw. Teams are going to pick up on that Goff isn't good when teams blitz and pressure him and they'll ramp that up as the season moves along.

Let's hope that Goff bounces back after a bizarre performance from him and that the Lions can get back on track in Week 3 against the Arizona Cardinals.
