With Super Bowl LVIII putting the 2023 season into the books, now we have the offseason. From a betting perspective, future NFL odds for next season are a thing. The Detroit Lions, coming off a trip to the NFC Championship Game, are among the top favorites to win Super Bowl LIX.

Quarterback Jared Goff of course had a fine 2023 season leading the Lions to their first division title since 1993. He finished top-10 in the league in passing yards (4,575; second), touchdowns (30; fourth), completion percentage (67.3 percent seventh) and passer rating (97.9; ninth in the league).

Not that he had any chance to win league MVP, with Lamar Jackson the clear favorite and near-unanimous winner (49 of 50 first-place votes), but Goff did not get a single vote on anyone's ballot.

Jared Goff 2024 NFL MVP odds: Lions' QB being disrespected?

The Lions are in line to be one of the best teams in the league again next season, which would put Goff somewhere in the MVP conversation.

FanDuel Sportsbook has early odds out for 2024 NFL MVP. The top few candidates are not shocking, but where does Goff come in?

  • Patrick Mahomes: +650
  • Josh Allen: +800
  • Joe Burrow: +1000
  • C.J. Stroud: +1100
  • Lamar Jackson: +1200
  • Justin Herbert: +1300
  • Jordan Love: +1400
  • Dak Prescott: +1600
  • Jalen Hurts: +1600
  • Brock Purdy: +1600
  • Matthew Stafford: +2000
  • Tua Tagovailoa: +2500
  • Aaron Rodgers: +2500
  • Trevor Lawrence: +2500
  • Anthony Richardson: +3000
  • Kirk Cousins: +4000
  • Jared Goff: +5000
  • Justin Fields: +5000
  • Kyler Murray: +5000
  • Baker Mayfield: +6000
  • Deshaun Watson: +7500

Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen and Joe Burrow are not a shocking top three. C.J. Stroud at No. 4 is a surprise in FanDuel's updated MVP odds, as is Jordan Love with the seventh-best odds following Lamar Jackson and Justin Herbert.

Down the list, tied for the 17th-best MVP odds right now (+5000) with Justin Fields and Kyler Murray, is Goff.

So Lions' fans in states where you can bet legally, or even if you're not a Lions' fan but you're in a state where you can make a legal bet, would you put something down on Goff at 50-to-1 to win MVP next season?
