Despite a torn ACL shortening is 2022 season with the San Francisco 49ers, the Detroit Lions took a well-calculated free agency flier on cornerback Emmanuel Moseley. With passer ratings allowed below 67 in each of the last two seasons, a one-year was lined up to be a steal.

But Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reported at the start of camp that Moseley had had a second "clean up" procedure on his injured knee, which was eventually confirmed by the team. He has more recently landed on injury reports with a hamstring issue to go along with his recovery from the torn ACL. Moseley has missed all but two practices since becoming a Lion.

The Lions' decision to take Moseley off the PUP list and put him on the initial 53-man roster suddenly doesn't look so smart, as he nears a potential third game missed and with a short turnaround before a Thursday night game in Week 4.

To be updated as they come, here are the latest injury updates for Moseley heading into Week 3 against the Atlanta Falcons.

Emmanuel Moseley injury status for Week 3 vs. Atlanta Falcons

Moseley did not practice on Wednesday, as the Lions started their preparation for Week 3.

Moseley also sat out Thursday's practice.

On Friday, ahead of the official injury report with game statuses, Dan Campbell said Moseley is most likely going to be out on Sunday.

Update: Moseley has officially been ruled out for Sunday against the Falcons.

Emmanuel Moseley injury history

  • Dec. 5, 2020: Hamstring Strain Grade 2, missed two games
  • Sept. 10, 2021: Knee Strain Grade 1, missed first two games of season
  • Dec. 5, 2021: Pedal (High) Ankle Sprain Grade 3, missed next four games

When will Emmanuel Moseley make his Lions' debut?

Moseley will have to move to not completely sitting out practice to play in Week 3, and even then it will be a question mark until Friday's official injury designations. If he doesn't make progress in practice participation this week, whether he plays Week 3 or not, playing in the Week 4 Thursday night game against the Green Bay Packers will be tough to pull off.
