Off the news the NFL will not be reviewing the procedure for players reporting as eligible, after what happened to the Lions against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 17 last season, team president Rod Wood hit the ultimate right note.
It was not about issues with the procedure to report as eligible in that situation. It was about the mistake made by referee Brad Allen to declare Dan Skipper eligible and subsequently rule that Taylor Decker was not after he caught what should have been the game-winning two-point conversion.
Just got out of a meaty session with Rod Wood. A highlight was his response to a question about his conversations with the league after the fiasco in Dallas. He called Troy Vincent at 9a Sunday, but Vincent was at church.

Wood's response: "Did you pray for better officiating?"
Wood also told reporters, according to Jeremy Reisman of Pride of Detroit, that new uniforms for the Lions are coming before next month's draft, The draft will of course be in Detroit, so it's a unique and exploitable marketing and sales opportunity that should not be missed.
Just wrapped with Rod Wood.

New uniforms will be dropped before the NFL Draft.
The question is what the new uniforms will look like.....
Lions team president Rod Wood confirmed new uniforms will be revealed in April before the NFL Draft. He didn’t want to say too much about then before the reveal but did mention them honoring the franchise’s traditional colors “with a little updating and twist.” Stay tuned

The Cameron Sutton situation has football implications for the Lions. But after the warrant for his arrest was issued on March 20, he has still not been found or turned himself in as of this writing. They took a closer look at the Sutton situation over at Pride of Detroit, on the latest Pride of Detroit PODcast.
During the aforementioned session with reporters down at the league meetings on Monday, Wood revealed the team was able to reach Sutton before the decision to release him.
Lions President Rod Wood said he was on a League call when he learned about the warrant for Cam Sutton's arrest. The team was able to reach Sutton and suggested he seek counsel and turn himself in. Wood and others met the rest of the day and chose to release him the next morning.

In a real plot twist, Wood indicated Sutton was in Allen Park when the team learned of the warrant. Sutton left the building, ending communication with the team.
To be clear @Lions President Rod Wood indicated that Cam Sutton was in Allen Park when the team learned of the warrant. He was working with the strength staff when they approached him and urged him to seek Counsel & turn himself in. He left. Ending communication w/ team. https://t.co/YOsfn6mnyy
