It's a relatively slow week on the NFL calendar, with all the post-Super Bowl analysis exhausted and the NFL Combine coming next week. March of course brings the new league year and the start of free agency.

But there is still some Lions news and other stuff out there, so let's take a look.

Sam LaPorta became the best tight end on the Detroit Lions' roster the moment he was drafted last April. Then he proceeded to set every franchise record for a tight end, as well as the NFL record for catches by a rookie tight end.

LaPorta was also an obvious fantasy stud as a rookie, finishing as the TE1 across the board. His future outlook is obviously great, in fantasy football and otherwise.

Travis Kelce has been the unquestioned No. 1 tight end in fantasy for years now. He had a relatively down year in 2023, but was still very good. That said, Jamie Eisenberg of CBS Sports has LaPorta unseating Kelce as his No. 1 fantasy tight end for 2024.

"For me, I'm going with LaPorta as the No. 1 tight end, and he was fantastic as a rookie. He had 86 catches for 889 yards and 10 touchdowns on 120 targets in the regular season, and he followed that up with 21 catches for 176 yards and a touchdown on 27 targets in three playoff games."

LaPorta might be the first tight end off the board in 2024 fantasy drafts.
