Outside of Emmanuel Moseley, it's good news on the injury front for the Lions right now.

Tuesday morning brought the rough news cornerback Emmanuel Moseley is out indefinitely due to a torn pectoral. But otherwise it's good news on the injury front for the Detroit Lions two days before the preseason opener.

Via Kyle Meinke of MLive, Campbell spun the situation with Moseley in a positive light and left the door open for him to return late in the season.

"You don’t always see it in the moment, but this could be one of those that helps him get the legs where he needs them to get to by the end of the year....It’s part of the process. We all love E-man, all the work he puts into it, the top teammate that he is, and he’ll come back from this.”

Head coach Dan Campbell provided some far more positive injury updates before Tuesday's joint practice against the New York Giants.

Rookie cornerback Terrion Arnold left Monday's practice after taking a big hit from Giants left tackle Andrew Thomas, and he was evaluated for a concussion. Campbell said Arnold cleared concussion protocol, and he is indeed on the field Tuesday.

Right guard Kevin Zeitler left Monday's practice with a shoulder issue. Campbell confirmed it's a minor issue, but he will not practice on Tuesday.

Tight end Sam LaPorta did not participate in Monday's practice, and he will remain out again on Tuesday as he deals with what Campbell revealed is a minor hamstring issue.

LaPorta was spotted working with a trainer on the Giants' indoor practice field, which is a good sign and evidence his injury is not too serious.

Campbell also announced linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez and safety Ifeatu Melifonwu will not practice on Tuesday. Campbell did not specify the apparently "minor" injury for either of those guys, but both were full participants in Monday's practice.

The Lions will have a day off on Wednesday before Thursday night's preseason opener against the Giants. Even if LaPorta and Zeitler were 100 percent healthy, they would not be suiting up for the game. Arnold, Rodriguez and to a lesser degree Melifonwu should see some action though, as long as they are fine physically.
