Throughout the Detroit Lions' run this past season, it's been well-documented that rap music icon and longtime Lions fan, Eminem, has enjoyed himself and has been very vocal regarding the run.
The playoff matchup between the Lions and Rams featuring former Detroit quarterback Matthew Stafford drew a hilarious social media post from Mr. Mathers. Then, we saw him going full-on Slim Shady at the NFC Championship Game, which I'm sure fans enjoyed.
Of course, the Lions' season ended with a tough loss in that Championship game against the San Francisco 49ers. After piling on a 17-point halftime lead, Detroit went on to lose momentum and ultimately, the game.
Following the loss, Eminem waited a couple of days before sending out a post on X (Twitter) that was, uh, interesting, to say the least.
What exactly was Eminem trying to say in his social media post to the Lions?
Let's unpack the easy part, here, first. Ben Johnson shockingly decided to stay in Detroit after receiving head coaching interest for the second-straight year. I'm sure Em is as pumped as any Lions fan is about the news. It says a lot about the culture in Detroit and head coach Dan Campbell.
But, let's back up a second to the initial part of the post. A diss track?
We all love Eminem's diss tracks. He's a mastermind when it comes to picking apart any and everyone he's singled out over the years. But, was he talking about a diss track dedicated to Johnson? It couldn't have been, could it?
Or, maybe he was a couple days late on admitting that he was planning a diss track in reference to ... Taylor Swift?
Had the Lions made the Super Bowl, there were already plenty of fans talking about a potential diss track dedicated to the pop star who has dominated Kansas City Chiefs headlines for months now.
We may never know the true intent of Eminem's diss track. He also may have been kidding, altogether. Regardless, it's still pretty fun to imagine what the man could have been talking about.
