Best Detroit Lions bets for Week 15 vs. Denver Broncos
Before getting into this week's Detroit Lions best bets, as usual, let's see how last week's best bets did.
RB Jahmyr Gibbs, Over 3.5 receptions (-122, FanDuel; -130, DraftKings): 3 receptions
Gibbs, 40-plus Receiving Yards (+178, FanDuel; +165, DraftKings): 16 receiving yards
TE Sam LaPorta, Anytime touchdown (+165, FanDuel; +175, DraftKings): 0 touchdowns
If Gibbs hadn't dropped a screen pass, he would have cashed the first bet and maybe the second. But close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades, so we take our 0-for-3 and move on to Week 15.
The Lions will return home to take on the Denver Broncos, who have won six of their last seven games, for a Saturday night primetime game. The Lions have surprisingly stuck as 4.5-point favorites, despite their recent struggles
Via the sportsbook noted, here are our best Detroit Lions bets for Week 15.
Detroit Lions best bets: Week 15 vs. Denver Broncos
RB David Montgomery, Over 14.5 Rush Attempts (-130, DraftKings)
The Broncos have been better lately, but they still have the worst run defense in the NFL (144 yards allowed per game) and they're allowing a league-worst 5.1 yards per carry.
Denver is tied for the NFL lead with 24 takeaways this season, which doesn't match well with Jared Goff's nine turnovers over the last four games. So the Lions feel sure to lean on the ground game, and have success doing so. Even splitting work with Jahmyr Gibbs, Montgomery should hit the over on 14.5 carries with room to spare.
TE Sam LaPorta, Anytime touchdown (+165, FanDuel; +100, DraftKings)
Prior to his second dud of the season against the Chicago Bears last week (two catches for 23 yards), LaPorta had scored in back-to-back games and in three of the previous five contests.
The Broncos enter Week 15 allowing the third-most receptions, second-most yards, tied for the second-most touchdowns and the second-most fantasy points per game to tight ends.
LaPorta is in a prime spot for a bounce back game Saturday night. An anytime touchdown at plus-money is an easy bet.
WR Jameson Williams, Longest reception, Over 13.5 yards (-110)
Yes, everyone would like to see Williams get more opportunities. Some of that can be put on Goff, who is struggling lately and offensive coordinator Ben Johnson has been left to work around that in his play-calling.
But indoors at home is an ideal environment for Goff, and it will only take one deep connection with Williams to cash this bet.
