5 realistic free agents the Lions could sign in 2024
The Detroit Lions are in a uniquely good position as 2024 NFL free agency nears. They are coming off a trip to the NFC Championship Game, they are a legit Super Bowl contender looking to next season and they sit in the top-10 of the league in cap space.
So money will not prevent the Lions from doing what they'd like to in free agency. Re-signing some of their own free agents (Jonah Jackson, Graham Glasgow, Josh Reynolds, C.J. Gardner-Johnson) is a stated priority, but some moves to add from outside the organization are coming too.
Notable splashes to add someone at their top two areas of need (cornerback and edge rusher) would be cool to see the Lions get done. But it also feels unlikely. Maybe one, maybe the other, but not both. And maybe neither when it's all said and done, in terms of a big name being brought in on a big contract.
Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell value intangible fit right alongside a player's talent. In his season ending press conference, Holmes noted how talent is a base-level evaluation concept, and not necessarily a great differentiator (he's right). Getting down to it, Holmes declared that "everyone can't play for the Detroit Lions."
So let's look beyond any huge, big money splashes, to more "realistic" free agent targets. Who could the Lions actually come away with in free agency next month?
