5 Detroit Lions players who could be on the move before the trade deadline

The Detroit Lions are buyers at the trade deadline, if a deal makes sense, but on the flip side these five players could be sent elsewhere between now and Oct. 31.

At 5-1 and with a four-game winning streak as of this writing, the Detroit Lions are clear-cut buyers as the Oct. 31 trade deadline approaches. That doesn't mean any trades will happen, large or small, but general manager Brad Holmes is definitely on the lookout for anything that may make sense to bolster the roster.

But if the Lions make a move or two, it's unlikely those trades will strictly involve draft picks going to another team. Players will surely be moved too, if only to clear out a role for any incoming players. And given the roster depth the Lions have, other teams should have some interest in anyone who might be available to add to their own rosters--which is certainly something different, in pairing with being a legit trade deadline buyer.

With Holmes working the trade phones, on both sides, these Lions players could be moved before the afternoon on Halloween.

5. WR Marvin Jones

Jones had a rough outing in Week 1 against the Kansas City Chiefs, and it hasn't gotten much better since with a total of five catches for 35 yards on the season. He looks to be diminished physically, as could be expected at 33 years old, but he also hasn't had a lot of opportunities in a deep receiving corps.

There probably isn't much of a trade market for Jones. And he won't have a chance to change that at all in Week 7, since he'll miss the game due to a personal issue. That said, there could be a team looking for a veteran receiver who'd take a late-round draft pick flier on him, and the Lions would almost have to take it.
