Packers coach Matt LaFleur can't just be happy to finally beat the Lions at home

As the Detroit Lions have risen to being one of the best teams in the NFL, and tickets at Ford Field have become hard to get/very expensive, fans have taken to traveling to road venues to see their team.

In Week 1 of the 2023 season, there was a healthy dose of Honolulu Blue in the stands at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City when the Lions beat the defending Super Bowl champions.

Lions fans did it again a few weeks later at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, prompting this cry-baby statement from the Packers.

"The Packers have encouraged our ticket holders to sell to other Packers fans when possible, The secondary market, however, allows fans from anywhere to purchase tickets and Lambeau Field remains a popular destination for all fans, including those from other teams. We have seen this particularly with divisional games. Conversely, this is how the Packers often enjoy many Packers fans at away games.”

There, the Packers sent the message they're fine with opposing team's fans selling tickets to their fans (Minnesota, Chicago and Detroit are viable road destinations for "Packer backers", as the Packers suggested in that lame statement). But if their fans sell tickets to opposing fans, especially fans of division opponents, that's a no-no which warrants putting out a statement.

With that win over the Packers in late-September of 2023, the Lions also broke the spirit of Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur. The second of what became three straight wins for the Lions at Lambeau Field will do that someone, I suppose.

Matt LaFleur can't just be happy to have finally beaten the Lions at home

On Sunday, the Packers ended that home losing streak to the Lions with a 27-13 win where they overwhelmed Detroit in the trenches.

Before kickoff, Justin Rogers of Detroit Football Network captured how Lions fans had noticeably populated the stands at Lambeau Field once again.

There are always flaws in a game that a football coach will notice, even in a win. But in a broad sense, LaFleur had to be pretty happy after Sunday's game, right?

Right?

During the opening of his postgame press conference, LaFleur took an opportunity to lament how many Lions' fans were present and how they obtained their tickets.

"The fans that showed up brought great energy,” LaFleur said. “And the fans that sold their tickets to all those Lions fans gotta be better.”

Nearly two years after the ridiculous statement from the team on the topic, LaFleur took the baton to more directly criticize Packers fans for having the audacity to sell their tickets to Lions fans.

The complaints from the Packers and now LaFleur seem to be saved for how Lions fans infiltrate Lambeau Field like they do. But by revealing how it gets under their skin, they are ensuring it will continue as Packers fans look to unload tickets for games that may take place outside of Sunday at noon Central Time.
