The Detroit Lions seem to be back on track. After their convincing 38-30 win against the Baltimore Ravens, the NFC North powerhouse are back in the driver's seat, having worked out the kinks from their anemic Week One offensive performance.
One of the many bright spots from the Lions output against the Ravens was their running back duo of "Sonic and Knuckles" outshining Ravens future hall of famer Derrick Henry.
The tandem totaled 34 carries, 218 rushing yards, with 4 TDs, to go along with 6 receptions for 45 yards. Comparatively, Henry had 12 carries for 50 yards, a TD, 1 reception for 7 yards, and 0/1 including a near interception.
Lions running back duo completely outshined Derrick Henry in primetime
What doesn't show up on the stat sheet is that Henry was stonewalled inside the Lions 3-yard line twice, leading to a Lamar Jackson sack on 4th down and goal. Henry's late game fumble also took points off the board for the Ravens, possibly making the difference in the Lions victory.
In addition to their superior output, the tandem also etched their names in the record books of NFL history. The running back duo now sits alone as they have both scored a rushing touchdown in 11 games in their career.

The record was previously shared by hall of famers Jim Taylor and Paul Hornung (Green Bay Packers 1958-1966), along with Hugh McElhenney and Joe Perry (San Francisco 49ers 1952-1960).
In the age of free agency, their joint accomplishment is even more impressive given the fact that both backs have been able to perform at a high level the last three years. The Lions currently have Gibbs, and Montgomery together under contract until 2026, with the possibility of picking up Gibbs' 5th year option.
Regardless of the future, right now the Lions have an additional 31 games together of their historic running back tandem. The Lions look to continue their winning streak against the Cleveland Browns this Sunday at Ford Field.
