The Detroit Lions had plenty of problems in 2025, but one of them was not wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa. The rookie delivered a solid season and made plenty of highlight reel plays along the way.

Despite that, there's a chance that TeSlaa might not have even scratched the surface of how good he can become. Come 2026, there's a chance that TeSlaa could be even better on the field thanks to having a full year of NFL learning under his belt.

That's exactly what Amon-Ra St. Brown expects to see this season. Speaking after an OTA session, St. Brown was asked about what fans can expect to see from TeSlaa this season. As he said, added comfort could lead to a breakout season for the young wide receiver.

"I think just me having been in his shoes, going into year two, you become more comfortable with the playbook, the speed of the game, everything. (You're comfortable with) the facilities, where to park, so you can tell he's more comfortable in everything. With that comfortability, I think you get confidence and I think that's going to continue to go for him. He was great for us last year. He's going to be even better for us this year. So, I can't wait."

TeSlaa nabbed six touchdowns last season and already has several fantastic circus catches to his credit, so it's downright scary to think how good he could become with just a bit more consistency. As St. Brown notes, simply knowing more of what to expect could quickly lead him to that point.

St. Brown understands wide receiver competition is stiff this season

Even though St. Brown is already an elite player in the league, his work ethic remains second to none as well as his motivation. That's a big reason for his success. The Lions have added plenty to the wideout room this offseason, and those players will line up to challenge a stud like St. Brown.

In addition to seeing an expected leap from TeSlaa, St. Brown can expect other newcomers to push him in the room. That's a fact that he welcomes in a big way, because it forces him to lock in and constantly strive to better himself.

"Internal competition is great. I might be biased, but I feel like we have one of the best receiver rooms in the league. How much competition there's going to be is going to be tough, but you always want to bring guys in. For me, I want to have the mentality that my job is always on the line, no matter how many Pro Bowls I have, All-Pro (selections), whatever. There's always another guy looking to replace me. The team is looking to replace me. I have that mindset going in every year."

As a result, St. Brown didn't begrudge the front office and coaching staff for bringing more players in. He knows that having a full complement of studs is needed for the team to improve in notable ways.

"I think Dan (Campbell) is just creating competition all around. I think it's great for the team, especially when you're going against each other each and every day. You need guys being able to compete, whether it's on the other side of the ball or even in your room."

TeSlaa is one of the players that will be competing with St. Brown for a few more targets this season. It could end up being a fantastic year for the second year receiver thanks to what he has already experienced.
