Detroit Lions fans finally got the Jameson Williams breakout season they had been waiting for in 2025. The explosive wideout was on a tear in the back half of the year, finishing ninth in the NFL in receiving yards. He became the Amon-Ra St. Brown complement Detroit has been hoping to see since he was drafted, vaulting the duo toward the top of the league.

Stefon Diggs doesn't seem to have noticed. The current free agent recently claimed that he's the best No. 2 wide receiver in the NFL.

In a recent video on his YouTube channel, Diggs said, "Everybody got a 1. Opportunities aside, people might say there's seven real 1s. In my opinion, I can compete with anybody, but take those as your 1s. You can't name a No. 2 better than me. There's not a No. 2 on a team. Let's presumably give people the credit and just say, 'OK, you want to take the No. 1 spot away.' Name your No. 2 receiver right now. Tell me how much he makes. My last question is: Is he better than me?"

Did he watch Williams play last season?

There's a clear group of wide receiver duos at the top of the NFL. Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins of the Cincinnati Bengals, CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens of the Dallas Cowboys, Puka Nacua and Davante Adams of the Los Angeles Rams, and St. Brown and Williams of the Lions are in a class of their own.

While Detroit's tandem may not be at the top of the list quite yet, they're firmly in the conversation.

It almost doesn't matter who Diggs eventually signs with. He won't rival the dynamism of the Lions' WR pair. Williams has outpaced the 32-year-old wideout in both yards and touchdowns in each of the last two seasons. While he's still a clear No. 2 to St. Brown, he's already knocking on the door of the NFL's top ten receivers.

Diggs, meanwhile, is still stuck without a team in free agency. The veteran was productive with the New England Patriots last season, but he's no longer the All-Pro player he was in his prime.

When he eventually does sign with a team, it will quickly become clear that Williams has passed him up in the hierarchy of NFL receivers. The two wideouts' careers seem to be on opposite trajectories.
