Netflix's popular Quarterback series is back with a new season set to debut in July. Obviously we wouldn't be mentioning this if the Detroit Lions didn't have ties to the show and that's precisely why it's being brought up here, as Jared Goff was one of the three quarterbacks followed for the latest season.
Lions fans are no strangers to having the team appear on a Netflix show, as Amon-Ra St. Brown was one of the four players chosen for Receiver last year. That season saw the Lions reach the NFC Championship Game where they built a 24-7 over the San Francisco 49ers only for the Niners to scratch and claw their way back, ultimately winning the game 34-31 and advancing to the Super Bowl.
The Lions came so close to making it to the Super Bowl so it makes sense that Goff thought this was the year to do Quarterback. Why not appear on the show when the team's Super Bowl odds have never been better?
Well, while the Lions only lost two games during the regular season and roared to the one-seed, they were bounced from the playoffs by the Washington Commanders, who are the hot new commodity in the NFC. Goff played poorly in the loss, throwing three picks.
This series will be mostly fun because it'll follow the Lions' magical 15-2 season but... as fans had to experience with Receiver, the final few episodes might be tough to watch.
Jared Goff to appear on season 2 of Quarterback
The other quarterbacks appearing on season two are Joe Burrow of the Bengals and Kirk Cousins of the Falcons. Goff was the only signal-caller of the bunch to help lead his team to the playoffs while Burrow's Bengals had a red-hot offensive season but finished 9-8 and third in their division and Cousins was benched for rookie Michael Penix Jr.
Cousins appeared on season one of the show but that was when he was with division rival Minnesota. Funny enough, the first season also a Falcons quarterback on it, as Marcus Mariota was their starter in the 2022 season. He, too, was benched for a rookie quarterback so it'll be a similar storyline for the Falcons.
Lions fans will enjoy most of this season but, again, those final few episodes might be tough to stomach.
