Jared Goff vaulted himself back into the MVP discussion with another great performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 11, but nothing he does will ever be enough to silence some critics.

In spite of the fact that Goff is leading one of the best teams in the NFL, there are still some who question him. Can Goff lead the Lions to the Super Bowl? Should the Lions be favorites to win the Super Bowl this year with Goff at the helm?

For Nick Wright of FOX Sports, the answer is a resounding no. Speaking on Monday's edition of "First Things First", Wright admitted he wasn't willing to make the jump and call the Lions the NFL's best team with Goff as the quarterback.

"I don't think you can be the best team in the league when you have a civilian at quarterback. I can't say a team with Jared Goff at quarterback is better than the Chiefs or the Bills. I can't. I won't. In the modern NFL, I think it's very hard to win three straight playoff games with a guy, even if it's a good guy, at quarterback. That's what I feel they have. You can be mad. That's my opinion on the Lions."

Wright seems to be missing a bigger point. Goff has quarterbacked in a Super Bowl. He also broke Detroit's drought by winning two postseason games last season.

Goff is not as flashy as Patrick Mahomes or Josh Allen, but the players around him differentiate him.

Jared Goff understands deep offense is critical to his success

The biggest flaw in Wright's logic comes from the fact that the Lions don't only have Goff, but a talented cast that has stepped up.

Following the 52-6 win over the Jaguars, Goff cited the periodic challenge of getting all his weapons involved in the offense.

"I think that's the challenge every week. Really trying to get everyone involved and make sure that we're spreading the ball around. I'm not really conscious of it during the game, but throughout the week of practice, you're thinking about it. Once the game starts, I'm kind of just playing point guard trying to find the open guy (and) get it to him. We threw a check down to (Jahmyr) Gibbs that goes for 53 (yards). It's a luxury to have those two guys in the backfield. When one, two and three down the field are covered, you go down to them and usually good things are happening."

The Lions don't have to have Goff be Superman to win, which could end up being their biggest advantage. Providing he can continue to distribute the ball to talented teammates, that can be enough to prove all the doubters wrong.
