Late Monday night, ESPN's Eric Woodyard reported Detroit LIons wide receiver Jameson Williams is facing a two-game suspension for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing substance policy.

It's an unfortunate story, with Williams now suspended for the second time in as many seasons. He was suspended the first four games of last season for a violation of the league's gambling rules. An original six-game suspension was reduced as the league acknowledged they could've done a better job educating about the gambling policy.

We also didn't have to wait long to get a reaction from someone with the Lions. Head coach Dan Campbell made his regular appearance on 97.1 The Ticket's "Costa and Jansen with Heather" Tuesday morning, with the Williams news of course the hot topic to get his thoughts on.

Dan Campbell says all the expected things about Jameson Williams suspension

As of his appearance on the radio, the NFL has not announced Williams' suspension or given any details on the nature of his violation. Based on the statement Williams gave Woodyard Monday night, he does not plan to appeal the suspension. So he will miss next Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans and Week 9 against the Green Bay Packers if things hold up the way they are looking right now.

With nothing coming down officially from the league office yet, Campbell said all he could at this point.

"I can't really say anything about it until the league gives judgement and it comes out on their end. I'm not supposed to really comment on it," Campbell said. "All I can tell you is we're prepared to not have him. And we'll be fine, that's why we've got (Kalif Raymond) and Saint and (Sam) LaPorta and T.P. (Tim Patrick) and Allen Robinson, among other things with David Montgomery and (Jahmyr) Gibbs. We'll be fine. We'll move on. This thing comes down, if it does, when it comes down, we'll be fine."

The Lions can also call on rookie preseason standout Isaiah Williams to play the next couple games, and Tom Kennedy is on the practice squad. As expected, it's "next man up" and Campbell isn't publicly sweating being without Jameson Williams.
