Former Pro Bowl cornerback Aqib Talib played the last two seasons of his NFL career for the Los Angeles rams, and with Jared Goff, including the 2018 season that ended with a Super Bowl appearance. Talib is also a fan of Goff, clearly, and has been ever since then.

Goff's career resurgence with the Detroit Lions has landed with the team as a Super Bowl contender this year. Not to get too far ahead of things, but Goff could become one of few quarterbacks in NFL history to go to a Super Bowl with more than one team.

Goff is an MVP candidate

Talib was on "Up And Adams" with Kay Adams on Monday. Adams recalled his affinity for Goff, and used that the starting point for talking about the Lions.

Once upon a time, Hall of Fame head coach Bill Parcells (when he worked for ESPN) talked about a quarterback ideally not being a "celebrity quarterback." It's definitely an old school thought, and almost impossible for a top-tier quarterback to pull off today. Talib pointed to how Goff does not have a heavy presence on social media, and stays focused on handling his business playing football.

"JG just a quiet guy, man," Talib said. "He don’t do a bunch of Instagram ranting, a bunch of interviews. He just goes out and he handles business, over and over again. Winning is a skill, and everywhere he go, that’s what he do, man."

Talib went on to talk more broadly about what he likes about the Lions, of course mentioning Goff again within that vein.

"In the trenches, offense, defense. They'll be in the show. It’ll be them, Philly, Green Bay might creep up, but I love what Detroit is doing, I love what Jared Goff is doing, man, leading those guys, making throws. They can kill you with the run, they can kill you with the pass," Talib said. "I Iove what they got going in Detroit."

Talib saw up-close how Goff operated as a young quarterback, and it's clear he operates similarly now as a seasoned veteran piloting another team that's a Super Bowl contender.
