Amon-Ra St. Brown's injury quote reveals Lions completely duped the Cowboys

Maybe he shouldn't have said this out loud...

The Detroit Lions' receiving corps looked just fine in Week 14, with Jameson Williams and Amon-Ra St. Brown putting on a show against a struggling Dallas Cowboys secondary. St. Brown had been questionable leading into this game, but he looked superb in warmups and it was obvious that he would be suiting up despite his ankle sprain.

After the win, St. Brown was interviewed by the Amazon Prime NFL crew about his injury and preparation for the game, and St. Brown revealed an...interesting piece of information that might leave Cowboys fans pulling out their hair:

“Probably found out about two days before the game that I could go and officially yesterday. I ran some routes after walkthrough and felt pretty good that I was gonna go today.”

St. Brown was given the green light to go two days before kickoff, which was not common knowledge nor something the Cowboys could've fully prepared for headed into this contest.

St. Brown revealed interesting timeline for ankle injury

St. Brown hadn't practiced the entire week leading into this game, but had conducted walkthroughs to stay on top of the game plan despite not having physically participated in practice. He's already a great enough receiver that he doesn't necessarily need to go hard in practice in order to be impactful in-game, and that was on full display against Dallas' secondary.

He went off for 92 receiving yards on six receptions, with his longest run being 37 yards. He was also blocking his tail off in the game, almost helping Williams land a touchdown reception thanks to a hard nosed block he provided in the end zone during the game. He was clearly a lot closer to 100 percent than folks realized, which might've thrown Dallas off their game just a bit.

They presumably prepared for the possibility that St. Brown would suit up in such a must-win game, but maybe as a decoy rather than a legitimate target for the Lions. However, Detroit's dealt with so many injuries as of late that it would've been silly for them to risk the health of their star receiver when they have the talent of Williams, Jahmyr Gibbs, and David Montgomery to help keep them somewhat afloat in his absence.

The Cowboys are now on the outside looking in on the postseason picture while the Lions remain firmly in the hunt for a final Wild Card spot, and much of that is thanks to St. Brown's decision to play.
