Former Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold has officially been cleared off waivers for Detroit and is now planning his NFL future. Arnold, now a free agent, can sign with any NFL team for next season.
According to his attorney, Harvey Steinberg, the former Lions cornerback has already been contacted by three NFL teams. Officially a free agent, here are three teams that would be considered good fits for Arnold next season.
New York Jets
Reuniting with former defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn and the New York Jets could benefit Arnold's NFL future. While there is a likelihood that this upcoming season for Glenn could be his last with the Jets if they have another losing season, Arnold working with him for a season could help him get back on track.
Glenn has always been able to connect with his players on a personal level, and he’ll look to do that with Arnold if he decides to sign with the Jets. Last season, the Jets finished last in the AFC East with a 3-14 overall record.
If Arnold signs with the Jets, he'll join a cornerback room that features Brandon Stephens and Nahshon Wright.
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs could use more pieces in their secondary as they look to return to the NFL playoffs and contend for a Super Bowl title. This offseason, the Chiefs made major changes to their secondary, trading cornerback Trent McDuffie to the Los Angeles Rams.
In the 2026 NFL Draft, the Chiefs also selected LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane in the first round and signed veteran cornerback L'Jarius Sneed. Signing Arnold to their secondary would be a valuable addition to the Chiefs' cornerback depth.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
After falling short of their fifth consecutive NFC South division title, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers enter the 2026 NFL season with major questions regarding their secondary. The cornerback starters in the Buccaneers' secondary are expected to be Zyon McCollum and Benjamin Morrison.
Key cornerback reserves for the Buccaneers are Josh Hayes and Damarion Williams, who could receive more playing time next season. Bringing in Arnold as a depth piece at cornerback could benefit the Buccaneers heading into a season in which the expectation will be to reclaim their crown as NFC South champions.
If he signs with the Buccaneers, Arnold will reunite with former Lions linebacker Alex Anzalone in Tampa Bay.
