The Detroit Lions are pretty healthy heading into Week 16, with just a handful of players listed on the final injury report for Saturday’s game against the Carolina Panthers.
It’s a short week for most of the NFL this week, with most of the Week 16 schedule on Saturday, Christmas Eve, rather than Sunday, Christmas Day. So the timeline for everything is upped by a day, with final injury reports out on Thursday for teams that are playing Saturday.
With that, here is the final injury report, with game designations, for the Lions in Week 16 against the Carolina Panthers.
Detroit Lions injury report: Week 16 at Carolina Panthers
Out
- OG Kayode Awosika (ankle)
- FB Jason Cabinda (illness)
- S DeShon Elliott (shoulder)
Questionable
- LB Derrick Barnes (knee)
- C Frank Ragnow (foot)
No designation
- C/OG Evan Brown (ankle)
- OT Taylor Decker (elbow)
- OT Matt Nelson (not injury-related)
- DT Michael Brockers (illness)
Elliott being officially listed as out is no surprise. He left last week’s game against the New York Jets with a shoulder injury, and head coach Dan Campbell basically said he would not play on Tuesday.
Awosika will miss his third straight game.
Cabinda is the latest Lion to deal with an illness. The team traveling to North Carolina on Thursday, to avoid the winter weather hitting a large part of the country, surely led to him not being cleared in time.
Earlier on Thursday Campbell said Ragnow will be ready to go on Saturday, as the Pro Bowl center continues to deal with and play through a foot/toe issue.
Barnes has missed the last two games, but with three limited practices this week he seems to have a chance to play on Saturday.
On the Panthers side, they have six players listed with injuries, etc. but none have a designation for Saturday after full practice participation on Thursday.
CB Jaycee Horn (shoulder)
LB Joel Iyiegbuniwe (hamstring)
TE Ian Thomas (thigh)
CB Myles Hartsfield (ankle)
CB CJ Henderson (ankle)
OT Tayler Moton (non-injury related)
