Coming off a bye and after missing two games, Lions running back D’Andre Swift is moving toward a return to fantasy lineups in Week 7.

There was plenty of breakout buzz around Lions running back D’Andre Swift this offseason. If he could just stay healthy, the sky seemed to be the limit.

Swift had a nice game in Week 1, with 15 carries for a career-high 144 yards and a touchdown along with three catches for 31 yards. He emerged from that game with an ankle issue, but he played through it in Week 2 and Week 3.

In Week 3 against Minnesota, Swift added a shoulder injury to his ankle issue. So it made absolute sense to hold him out for the two games before the Week 6 bye if necessary, with Jamaal Williams able to hold down the fort as the lead back for the Lions. The ankle injury was going to be a thing at least until the week off anyway.

D’Andre Swift likely coming back to Week 7 fantasy lineups

On Wednesday morning, Lions head coach Dan Campbell said he expected Swift to practice. He indeed did so, which is the first sign he’ll be back on the field Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys.

Swift was, as expected, listed as limited on Wednesday. Thursday will be a more telling day, along with of course Friday and how he is listed on the final injury report.

Expect Swift to be listed as questionable for Sunday, unless he somehow practices in full Thursday and Friday and comes totally off the injury report. Unlikely, but possible on the latter point.

There will be risk to putting Swift back in fantasy lineups if he’s limited in practice and on the injury report this week. But the risk was similar in Week 2 and Week 3, so it’s not new for his fantasy managers and we embraced the risk then (I of course say “we” as a Swift fantasy manager).

If Swift is active for the game against the Cowboys, he goes into the Week 7 lineups of his fantasy managers without question.
