Coming off an embarrassing defensive performance in Week 4, here are 3 key matchups that could help the Detroit Lions to get back in the win column in Week 5.

Oh how the mighty have fallen, just two weeks ago Detroit Lions fans were feeling really good about the state of the team. Coming off a big win against the Washington Commanders, everything looked to be pointed in the right direction. Fast forward two weeks and it seems like the pulse of the fanbase has settled somewhere between emptiness and unfiltered anger.

That’s what happens when you lose two straight games that should have been victories had it not been for self-inflicted wounds, and some truly shocking defensive play. The good vibes brought on by “Hard Knocks” have effectively been neutered.

With a bye coming in Week 6, the Lions need to get some momentum back. After the bye comes games against the Dallas Cowboys, Miami Dolphins and Green Bay Packers. So this week against the New England Patriots looks pretty important, and a road trip to Foxboro is never easy.

If the Lions are going to leave Gillette Stadium with a win on Sunday afternoon, these matchups being marked as individual wins will go a long to getting it done.

Here are three key matchups for the Lions against the Patriots in Week 5.
