5 teams who might be desperate enough to trade for former Lions WR Kenny Golladay
3. Green Bay Packers
Speaking of teams who are all-in until furter notice, we have the Packers. Aaron Rodgers is open about not playing into his mid-40s like Brady has, and any year could be his last. With Allen Lazard as a trusted option and rookie Romeo Doubs starting to emerge, on the flipside Sammy Watkins and rookie Christian Watson have struggled to stay healthy. Help is needed at wide receiver, and signing Odell Beckham doesn’t feel likely.
As the trade deadline approaches a little more than a month away already, there could be some solid wide receiver options for Green Bay to pursue. But in terms of pure upside, Golladay might be unrivaled among the potentially available receivers if he is healthy. Prior to last year and losing a big chunk of the 2020 season, he was among the top contested catch receivers in the league in 2019.
The Packers have a little bit more cap room than Tampa Bay does to take on Golladay’s salary. But that shouldn’t make a lot of difference, as the Giants surely know how much of his money they’ll eat to unload him, with little regard for the team they send him to beyond any difference in trade offers.
Not that a trade would get done so quickly, but the Packers play the Giants over in London in Week 5 on Oct. 9. Might Golladay come back to the States on the other team?
