Amon-Ra St. Brown is a top-5 fantasy wide receiver through Week 2

Rumors of his demise have been greatly overblown, as Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown is a top-five fantasy wide receiver through Week 2.

Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown had a star turn late in his rookie season last year, helping many a fantasy manager win their league. Given the circumstance, with D’Andre Swift and T.J. Hockenson missing all or most of that closing stretch, it was easy to diminish St. Brown as a fantasy asset for 2022.

Through two games, St. Brown has 17 receptions for 180 yards with three touchdowns. In Week 2 against the Washington Commanders, he bolstered his fantasy point total further with 68 rushing yards to go with nine catches for 116 yards and two touchdowns. For the week, depending on scoring format, only Stefon Diggs, Tyreek Hill and/or Jaylen Waddle had more fantasy points among wide receivers.

St. Brown now solely owns the NFL record for games with eight or more receptions and a touchdown, of course stretching back to last season, with six. With another eight-plus catch game in Week 3 against the Minnesota Vikings, he can tie Michael Thomas and Antonio Brown for that record with his eighth straight eight-plus catch game.

Amon-Ra St. Brown is establishing himself as a certified fantasy stud

Any way you slice it in terms of scoring format, standard (42.8 fantasy points), full PPR (59.8 points) or 0.5-point PPR (51.3 points), St. Brown is a top-five fantasy wide receiver so far this season.

If there was any question about St. Brown as a weekly fantasy starter, it’s absolutely gone now. And he was probably drafted as no better than a WR2, and quite possibly a WR3, increasing his impact for those who ignored any or all of the negative offseason noise.

It’s hard to confidently predict St. Brown will finish this year as a top-five fantasy receiver. But his he can’t be ignored, as the No. 1 receiver in a Lions’ offense that looks very dangerous.
