As draft season gets going in full force, these five Detroit Lions could become fantasy football stars this year.

A popular fantasy sports acumen, no matter the sport (football, baseball, etc.), is don’t ignore players on bad teams in drafts, on the waiver wire, etc. Opportunity drives value, and even bad teams have opportunity to give.

Among NFL teams and for fantasy football, the Detroit Lions fall into that “bad teams” column. But even just last year, D’Andre Swift and T.J. Hockenson were top-tier at their position until they were injured and Amon-Ra St. Brown was a late-season stud who helped win a lot of leagues (including one I’m in). In certain stretches and within certain contexts (league size, etc.),  Jared Goff, Jamaal Williams and Josh Reynolds could have been useful to fantasy managers in 2021.

There’s more positive overall buzz around the Lions than there has been in years right now. In fantasy terms and otherwise, time will tell if that translates to results.

Here are five Lions who could become fantasy football stars this year.
