Seventh Round

LSU. player. 50. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. DE. Ali Gaye. 233

DE. Iowa State. 249. player. 50. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Eyioma Uwazurike

The Lions double-up on front seven pieces here.

Gaye’s 2021 season ended in October, with surgery to repair what the LSU radio broadcast deemed a “stinger” during the game against Kentucky. He had a breakout season in 2020, with 9.5 tackles for loss and this season he had 19 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks in just four games.

Uwazurike had eight tackles for loss and three sacks as a traditional senior in 2020, then stepped it up to 8.5 sacks and 11.5 tackles for loss in his extra year this year. He’s an interior lineman, which makes him seem redundant after the Lions took Levi Onwuzurike and Alim McNeill in last April’s draft. But McNeill is a nose tackle, and the Lions are lined up to go younger across the board with their down lineman–Nick Williams will be a free agent and Michael Brockers should be on the trade block.

Next. 5 free agents the Detroit Lions should re-sign. dark
