Pick Analysis. player. 59. Scouting Report. WR, Dolphins. . Preston Williams. 4.

Williams’ career has been hampered by injuries, and that might be putting it mildly. A torn ACL ended his promising 2019 rookie season early, then a broken foot shortened his 2020 campaign. So far this season recovery from that foot injury and a core muscle injury have cost him games (including Week 6).

At the time of his injury as rookie, Williams was leading first-year wide receivers in targets (60) and was tied for the lead among rookie wide receivers in catches (32). He is still an interesting prospect, with size (6-foot-5) to win jump balls. In the game he has gotten the most significant run in this season (74 percent of the snaps in Week 5 against Tampa Bay) he averaged 20 yards a catch (three for 60 yards).

The Dolphins are 1-5 after a Week 6 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, with plenty of question marks moving forward. If they’re starting to look at trading guys, Williams could get what amounts to a showcase game or two before the trade deadline. Assuming he can be healthy of course. But the Lions could make a low-risk move to get him with more of an eye toward 2022, regardless of his game day status the next two Sundays.
