2019 NFL Draft: Seven Round, 226th Overall

The Detroit Lions select …

Name: David Long
Position: Cornerback
School: Michigan
Height/Weight: 5-11, 187
2018 Stats: 17 tackles, 6 pds, 1 int
Draft Round Projection: 3-5 Rounds

Pick Analysis: In this mock, the Lions found themselves a quality cornerback to develop in the fourth round in Alabama’s Saivion Smith. In the seventh, they catch a falling defensive back from their own backyard in Michigan’s David Long.

The Junior might regret not staying in Ann Arbor for his another year as his stats from his two seasons with the Wolverines are unimpressive. A traits prospect who projects best playing the slot, Long may be able to improve his draft status at the Scouting Combine later this month.

If not, the Lions could snatch him late before he becomes a priority undrafted free agent and add him to a roster in desperate need of quality depth at the cornerback position.
