2019 NFL Draft: Seven Round, 236th Overall

The Detroit Lions select …

Name: Darius Slayton
Position: Wide Receiver
School: Auburn
Height/Weight: 6-1, 190
2018 Stats: 35 recs, 670 yards, 5 tds

Pick Analysis: At this point in the draft, you are taking chances on players who have a single trait or two you hope they can quickly build on at the next level. With their final pick, the Lions grab Auburn wide receiver Darius Slayton.

In recent years, Detroit has done a good job of finding hidden rookie gems at the receiver position. Last year, it was Brandon Powell and Teo Redding. Before that, Jace Billingsley. That tradition continues with Slayton.

A deep threat that averaged 20.3 yards per catch during his time with the Tigers, Slayton’s limited route tree and possible slow forty-time could have NFL teams passing on a player who possesses a ton of positive traits.
