Lions vs Packers: Turnovers the difference in Detroit’s first divisional win
Second Quarter
Stafford missed on two passes to Golladay but Matt Prater came in to knock down a 39-yard field goal to push his team ahead by three possessions, 17-0 Detroit.
During Green Bay’s third possession, Aaron Jones gained some strong yardage on the ground but Detroit’s defense tightened up when they needed to and prevented the Packers from converting. Crosby came back into the game and he uncharacteristically missed his second field goal of the game (from 42-yards out) as his attempt clanked off of the right upright.

After two quarterback sacks on their series, Detroit punted the ball right back to Green Bay. Rodgers attempted to rally his team and establish some rhythm before halftime by throwing darts down the field. One of those darts found Davante Adams who beat Darius Slay deep for a 30-yard gain through the air.
But, from Detroit’s 4-yard line, Okwara came up with significant pressure yet again to force the fourth down and astonishingly, Mason Crosby missed his third field goal of the game, this time from 38-yards out as Matt Patricia’s defense continued its first-half shutout.
Detroit’s offense stalled out and had to relinquish the ball to Green Bay yet again on a Sam Martin punt and the Pack took over with zero timeouts and 90 seconds to go until halftime.
Rodgers absorbed a sack from rookie defensive lineman Da’Shawn Hand whose hit forced another QB fumble and the rising young playmaker also recovered the ball for the Lions.
Taking over after the turnover, Stafford found Marvin Jones with an absolute laser shot in the end zone for an 8-yard touchdown.
Aaron Rodgers took a knee and the Lions took a significant lead over their rival into the break, 24-0 Detroit.
