Last week, the Titans’ said goodbye to Murray after two seasons. Now, on the wrong side of 30, the veteran running back is scheduled to visit Detroit on Monday. There’s little doubt the free agent runner is still eyeing a starting role in the NFL, and he might find one with the Lions. But it seems unlikely he’ll find success behind Detroit’s questionable offensive line, as Murray simply doesn’t possess the required speed to create on his own anymore.

The Lions figure to be big players in free agency. They have several holes to fill and only six picks in the upcoming NFL draft. It’s a safe bet that Murray will not be the only free agent visit Detroit has this week.
If the Lions can recreate their 2013 draft success this offseason, it would go a long way in killing the playoff curse in Detroit. Players like defensive end Ezekiel Ansah, cornerback Darius Slay, guard Larry Warford, punter Sam Martin and running back Theo Riddick were all part of that class. Cross those fingers.
