Detroit Pistons

The Detroit Pistons have been toiling in mediocrity for nearly a decade.

They’ve remained in NBA purgatory because they haven’t been bad enough to secure top draft picks and they haven’t been good enough to make a playoff run or attract big time free agents.

The Pistons big splash this offseason was letting Kentavious Caldwell Pope walk and adding Avery Bradley.

The issue there is, Bradley is set to be a free agent at the end of the year and many expect him to get a max or near a max contract.

If the Pistons sign him long term they’d be committing to a core of Reggie Jackson, Avery Bradley, and Andre Drummond. Could that “big three” lead this team to an NBA title? Not likely.

They do have some nice pieces and with most of the Eastern conference seemingly trying to tank it looks like they will be a playoff team again this season.

But let’s be real, this team is not built to compete with the top teams in the East let alone the Warriors.

Hopefully by the time the Warriors dynasty ends the Pistons will somehow be ready to contend.
