Detroit Lions fans: How outraged should you be about that final play?

Who should this outrage be directed at?

As with most things, there is plenty of blame to go around. While it would be easy and fitting to crucify the refs for this one, the Lions aren’t completely off the hook either (they never are).

The Replay Booth (30% of the blame)- The call on the field was a touchdown. Was that REALLY enough evidence to overturn it? Can you REALLY say that Golden had full control of the ball at first? Can you REALLY say for certain he was down?

The Refs (30%)- Call the pass interference penalty that very clearly happened. Even if the touchdown gets overturned, Detroit would rightfully still have another play or two.

The Playcalling (20%)- You need one yard, and the play call you draw up is a half yard slant. Let’s not forget this part.

God/The Universe/The Front End of Karma (10%)- Thy will be done. This stuff’s been happening for 60 years now. What can you do except hope you’re still alive for when it flips back?

The NFL Rulebook (7%)- Apparently, if you go by the book, the refs made the “correct” call. That doesn’t mean it was the right call though. Even if I admit that Golden was stopped short, that whole clock runoff thing seems wrong.

Next: Eric Ebron’s inconsistent play continues

Stafford (3%)- I wanted Stafford to run it in himself. In those three final plays he had plenty of openings. A bootleg or QB draw would be risky, but it was there. He could always throw it away if he ran out of room.

Matt Millen (O%)- Sorry guys, not this time.
