After visiting Detroit Lions training camp, former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson says this rookie had the “it” factor.

Training camp practices continue for the Detroit Lions, as they prepare for their upcoming preseason opener against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, August 13th.

But on Friday, the Lions wide receiver corps had an unusual visitor. That being former Cincinnati Bengals star Chad Johnson, who is also known as “Chad Ochocinco”.

Johnson made headlines late last month when he sent out a tweet saying he wanted someone to take him to Lions’ training camp, presumably to try out for the team. The 39-year old hasn’t played in the NFL since 2011.

Ochocinco made an appearance at Lions’ camp on Friday, but only as a visitor. He did the same at the University of Michigan the day before. After visiting with and watching Detroit’s receivers during practice, the 12-year NFL veteran tweeted out something very interesting…

That’s high praise for Kenny Golladay, the Lions’ 2017 third round selection out of Northern Illinois, coming from a six-time Pro Bowler and self-proclaimed future Hall of Famer.

Golladay, who has struggled recently with foot work and dropped passes, is expected to be Detroit’s third wide receiver when the regular season kick off behind veterans Golden Tate and Marvin Jones Jr. He should help fill the void that was left by Anquan Boldin, who was not re-signed in the offseason.

The 23-year old rookie had massive numbers coming out of college. During his two seasons with the Huskies, Golladay racked up 160 receptions for 2,285 yards and 21 total touchdowns.

Next: Detroit Lions fans, let’s play “Would you rather?”

With a 6-foot-4, 213 pound frame, Kenny Golladay is expected to be an excellent red-zone target for quarterback Matthew Stafford. If the young receiver is able to bulk up, improve his route running and be more consistent, his “it” factor could make a big impact for the Detroit Lions this season.
